In Disneyland Paris (DLP) most Cast Members (CMs) are trained to spot fakes and only accept genuine Disney pins (no LoungeFly, Box Lunch, Artworld or Fantasy pins, etc.) - there are even Pin Masters/Mistresses looking after the larger boards. They'll check the pin back, the quality and even inspect it with a magnifying glass before agreeing to a trade. It can feel a bit strict, but it means you'll always get a real pin in return.

That's not to say that there aren't fakes on CM lanyards and pin pads though, so do inspect any pin before agreeing to a trade - and always ask them which of your pins they'd like to trade for:  In France it's considered polite to get the CM involved in the trade.

The Pin Masters at Pueblo Trading Post in Frontierland can also be very helpful if you are not sure about the authenticity of a pin you own. Just ask for their advice. It is usually only open at weekends though, so do check your Disneyland Paris app.

On the main board at Pueblo Trading Post, you will find different grades of pins that must be traded for a pin of equal value - just ask the Pin Master to talk you through the board. The rows at the top may be Limited Editions (LEs), while the next rows could be Vinylmation or Cast Refresh.

After that, the Open Edition (OE) pins usually make up most of the board. So if you would like an LE pin from the board, make sure you have an LE pin of your own that you are happy to trade.

This is a photograph of a typical main trading board at Disneyland Paris - click it to open a larger version in another browser tab. Each section, such as the Cast Refresh pins in the top left, can only be traded like-for-like.

And if you are wondering, "How do I trade for a Cast Refresh if I do not have one?" the answer is that you can sometimes find them on Cast Member lanyards and pin pads at Disneyland Paris, or you can buy them online.
